Where the Happily Ever Afters Are Always In Color

 Day 408

I had so much to say a few days ago, but then I stopped screaming about the themes in The Help and I forgot the other topic I wanted to blog about so I’ll just throw out some updates and random thoughts as I often like to do.

Better Off Red is in its final stages of production. It’ll be off to the printers soon. I’m pumped. A handful of people have been nice enough to tell me they have already pre-ordered a copy and that makes me happy to the tenth degree. I’ll have romance trading cards featuring the cover art and some deets on Ginger available soon.

The Fling will be out April 16, 2012, a perfect tax time gift for friends and family.

I’m in stage 2 of , lets say, 20 in writing Blacker Than Blue: Vampire Sorority Sisters Book 2. That should be released Fall 2012 granted I get to step 20.

I’m obsessed with My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Rainbow Dash is my dream pony.

I think Jay-Z and Kanye’s new song OTIS sucks.

Febreze stopped making my favorite scent: apple spice & delight. I had to settle for pumpkin harvest & fall

Rise of the Planet of the Apes was pretty good.

I’m still shocked that DJ forgot Kimmie Gibbler’s 16th birthday.

I dyed my bangs blue which required me to bleach them blond first. The blue washed out this week when I relaxed my so in the end, my hair is now blond. Dreams do come true.

My cats love knocking shit off the table and one of them thought this was a great idea.

Until next time. 🙂

  1. hahaha… You seriously have a gift for random hilariousness. Yeah, OTIS is okay. Is it bad that I could listen to Chris Brown's Look At Me Know until my ears bleed. I LOVE it!

Congrats on Better off Red and The Fling!!! How exciting!

Sorry to hear about Fabreze. I hate when they do that shit.

I agree on Rise of Planet of the Apes… "Pretty good" is exactly what I thought when I left the theater.

I haven't went to go see The Help. Everybody keeps saying "you gotta go see this movie," but I kind of don't want to. From what I've seen in the trailers, the way they portray African American women in the South seems sterotypical and it just rubs me the wrong way.

  2. Rebekah says:

Hey! I had two issues with The Help.

    1) the main plot revolves around the main character not having her own story to write so she gets "the help" to do it for her. even though they are compensated, she just takes off to nyc after all is said and done. i see no redemption in that at all.

    2) historically speaking it would have been sooooo dangerous for these women to basically write a burn book about their employers. a lot of their husbands would have either been in the Klan or at least extremely racist. i dont care how much you hate your boss, when there is a real element of danger you wouldnt risk your own safety and lives of neighbors and friends to just help some girl write a book.

beyond that none of the characters were likable, white and black. it was just hard to get though, period.

i want Jay-Z and Kanye to think twice next time.
