This week has been a blast, for me at least. 😉  It’s been so much fun chatting with ya’ll about TREASURE.

Today I want you to meet Trisha Hamilton aka Treasure. I also think I’ve mentioned this before, but I love strippers. But no really I have a special place in my heart for sex workers, strippers in particular. Trisha was such a fun character to write because I don’t think sex workers get a fair break. Yes, their work involves channeling sensuality, but they have to pay bills and taxes just like… most of us. When I first pictured Trisha Nikki Minaj came to mind. And then Lauren London and now I just can’t decide.

"The Other Woman" - Los Angeles Premiere - Arrivals

Like Maya Moore, both of these ladies are capable of being the cutest and downright sex as hell at the same time.

Let’s giveaway another copy of the book, shall we. Hit those comments. Let me know what you think of my picks for Trisha and Alexis and a copy of TREASURE could be on its way to you! 🙂

‘Kay ya’ll it’s time to meet Alexis. 😀 As some of you might know, I sort of gave birth to TREASURE on tumblr. I had the idea rolling around in my mind and worked out how I wanted to write it in a series of rambling posts with gifs that garnered a nice little bit of support. So I went for it.

I can’t write a story, as I’ve mentioned a million times, without a clear picture of the character in my head. I’ll tell you right now that this is often a problem for me when I write a wide array of culturally diverse characters, not to mention characters of varying body types. Alexis was sooooo hard, because she’s still trying to work out her gender representation and her overall style. Here’s who I came up with. Sidenote: it’s also really hard to get these character facespirations to stick when sometimes years go by between first draft and publication ’cause, yeah, these people tend to age. See Gemma Arterton who I picked for Ginger in Better Off Red. Ginger is forever 19 and Gemma, not so much. Stupid time. Anyway here’s my Alexis.

maya-moore1Maya Moore 2Some of you may know Maya Moore from her days at UConn or in her current role in the WNBA. Maya is a smooth 25 right now, not 18 like my main character, but as soon as I saw her picture I thought THAT’S ALEXIS! It’s her cheeks I think. She manages to be gorgeous and adorable. And she’s 6’0. My kind of woman!

Have you read Treasure yet? Do you have your own head canon for Alexis? Or got any other lady facespiration for your favorite female characters you want to share? Leave it the comments and win a copy of TREASURE!

Welcome to Day 3! I was thinking about what I wanted to share with you all this week, this glorious WEEK OF TREASURE, and while there’s plenty more coming down the pipeline (TREASURE has a playlist, people. oh, it’s coming) today I wanted to share some New Adult authors I think readers should keep an eye out for. After all, TREASURE is only one novella. I’m sure you’ll want more to read once you’re through with Trisha and Alexis’s introduction to love and computer science.

I’ll keep this brief so you can go stock your shelves or your ereader. Oh and there’s a chance to win one of three copies of TREASURE down there at the bottom. 😀

Victoria H. Smith – Victoria has spent the last few years spreading the gospel of New Adult fiction and I love her for her it. I’d start with THE SPACE BETWEEN (its $0.00 on kindle right now) and then just roll around in a pile of the rest of her titles. 😀

Nell Stark – Nell brings a raw honesty to her characters that I love. Homie knows how to write a coming story too. I started with HOMECOMING, but THE PRINCESS AFFAIR involves an actual princess so…(Lesbian/Multicultural)

Rhonda Helms – Rhonda has been another amazing advocate for the New Adult community. I’m looking forward to her next title, BREAK YOUR HEART, but you can pick her other titles like ONE BROKE GIRL and TWO LITTLE LIES now. (Hetero/Multicultural)

Jeanette Grey – Grey knows how to combine the right amount of angst with the perfect among of sexy times. I loved Jeanette’s TAKE WHAT YOU WANT and am equally excited to check out her gay NA romance, GET WHAT YOU WANT. (Hetero/Gay)

Dark Paradise cover

Angie Sandro – So Angie came on the scene with one of my favorite covers of the year. Covers sell books, people, but when I read the blurb for DARK PARADISE I knew I had to have this book in my life. DP is available now, along with DARK SACRIFICE and DARK REDEMPTION, #2 and 3 in the series. (Hetero/Multicultural)

Rachel Spangler – For me, Rachael’s stories nail setting and emotion while grounding the reader’s experience in everyday life. Check out her title, LoveLife with a main character who I found to be HUGELY relatable. (Lesbian)

Bonus Recommendation:

PUT AWAY WET by Susan Smith. This erotic NA romance is SMOKING HOT! read it.(Lesbian)

So tell me what NEW ADULT you’ve been reading. Got something on your TBR list you can’t wait to check out? OR better yet, are you aching for a pairing, character or situation you haven’t seen yet? HIT THOSE COMMENTS! I’m giving away THREE copies of Treasure today!

But before I get to that, over to your right, you’ll see a little subscribey box. Go ahead and throw your email address in there, and receive alerts to new blog posts and updates to rebekahweatherspoon.com. So say you’re not stalking me all over social media, you’ll still get a little nudge when something new from me hit stores. YAY!

As I was saying, 2014 has been very strange, but very good. Where 2013 seemed very unproductive for me, this year I’ve been putting out these novellas that I’m very proud of.

The idea for TREASURE came to me during one of my many nights hanging out on Tumblr where I commune with lost of queer women of color like myself. I saw a whole in the New Adult market and wanted to contribute something for the brown girls. I love Trisha and Alexis dearly and I hope readers enjoy the start of their journey together.

Treasure is available now from Bold Strokes Books.

ALSO! October is QUEER ROMANCE MONTH. Check out the QRM blog and twitter feed for posts about the word on queer romance fiction. 🙂

I made some promises about 29 days of something or other, but August turned out to be a crazy, month. But now TAMED is here.

Amazon, Kobo, and Barnes&Noble. I just couldn’t wait to share.

I had a blast writing Naliah and Armando’s story, and I can’t wait for you guys to meet them the proper way. This week (through Sept 7) both FIT and TAMED will be 99 cents. Keep your eyes peeled for giveaways throughout the week as well. Happy Reading!

 29 Days of TAMED!

This has been a pretty eventful summer. At Her Feet won a thing and FIT (#1 in the Fit Trilogy) has been received rather well, if I do say so. The rest of 2014 will be jam packed for me. Let me give you an idea.

August 14 – All You Can Eat release (features my short story “Burn”)

September 2 – TAMED (#2 in the FIT Trilogy) release

September 14 (12:30pm) – I’ll be speaking and signing at Catalyst Con

October 14 – Treasure release

November – I’ll be speaking and signing at BentCon

December 2 – SATED (#3 in the FIT Trilogy) release

Pretty much you can expect something from me every month for the rest of the year, but for now, FOR NOW, let’s get into a little TAMED.

The next 29 days with be filled with more goodies, giveaways, and of course, the #LineAday which will always go up on my twitter first @11:00am PST. Today I want to introduce you to my lovely couple, Nailah and Armando.

If you’ve read FIT you might remember Armando, Grant’s best friend and business partner. If you haven’t read FIT, go read FIT.  🙂 Nailah is Egyptian, living in Beverly Hills with her family, or in her family’s pool house to be exact. Fitness professional Armando is Mexican-American, not looking for a love exactly, but finding it in all the wrong places. I LOVED writing these two and I can’t wait for you guys to dive into their story.
